Our group of physicians was formed in 2007 in an effort to bring the talents and abilities of some of the most respected names in the Arizona gastroenterology community together to set a new standard of care for patients with digestive diseases. In October 2019, we partnered with the nationwide group GI Alliance to broaden our impact in the Western United States. We are currently seeking a full-time Histology Technician to join our Pathology Lab located at in Phoenix, Arizona.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction and supervision of the Lab Supervisor, Pathology Lab Manager and the Medical Director, the Histology Technician will provide general support to include all phases of specimen handling and slide preparation of pathology specimens, including quality control and assurance. Quality customer service to internal and external clients is required.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Histology Technician will work closely with other lab personnel to: Provide back up for Lab Assistant duties Gross, embed, cut, and stain tissue according to designated procedures Perform all routine and specialized histology tissue, slide prep and staining procedures Complete assigned workload within prescribed time limit Prepare reagents for tissue processing and routine slide staining Maintain legible, accurate complete logs and record of testing Distributing slides to pathologists Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment Troubleshoot procedures and instrumentation Ensure all corporate safety, quality control and quality assurance standards are met Ensure compliance with all local, federal, CLIA and CAP regulations Maintain a clean and well-organized work area Perform other duties, as assigned

JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

High school diploma or equivalent required Associate's Degree in science or equivalent science education required for Histology Technicians performing gross examination of specimens and other high complexity testing. Detail Oriented Excellent organizational skills Strong multi-tasking ability in a fast-paced environment Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate Astute numbering skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems Proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel and Word Arizona Digestive Health offers competitive pay and an array of benefits (for full-time employees) including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) and a Health Savings Account both with company contribution, and Paid Time Off.
