Make a Difference The Histology Technician grosses and prepares tissues and biopsy specimens for Histological processing. Prepares surgical slides for review by the Pathologist. The standard of ethical and professional performance must be consistent with established medical laboratory practices. Exceptional Skills and Qualifications Applicants for this position should be able to collaborate with others in a team setting, have excellent communication skills, and a positive attitude toward problem-solving. 3+ years: Three years histology and/or Mohs experience required. An associate degree from a regionally accredited college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours in biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both), which may be obtained within, or in addition to, the associate degree. (Required) Eligible for HT(ASCP) certification, and 60 college credits to perform grossing according to CLIA regulations Ability to be detail oriented Ability to display and maintain high standards Ability to show responsibility to the job and consideration of coworkers by exhibiting good attendance and punctuality Ability to use customer service skills to provide an exceptional experience Ability to work in cooperation with others  Ability to work with others in the delivery of laboratory medicine Able to differentiate dermatology tissues for appropriate embedding, cryotomy and microtomy Demonstrates good problem solving skills Page 2 of 3  Experience in histology procedures including grossing, tissue processing, cryotomy, microtomy, and slide staining (to include all special and immunohistochemical stain procedures) HIPPA compliant.
