Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Travel Histotechnician to support our histopathology and research laboratory teams across multiple healthcare facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in clinical and research laboratory procedures, specimen collection, and processing, with a focus on delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality histological preparations. This role offers the opportunity to work in diverse hospital environments, contributing to vital diagnostic and research activities while gaining broad experience in pathology, anatomy, and laboratory techniques. Duties Prepare and process tissue specimens for histological examination, ensuring adherence to precise laboratory procedures and safety protocols. Collect, handle, and label specimens accurately, maintaining strict chain-of-custody standards. Perform routine laboratory tasks such as sectioning, staining, mounting, and quality control of tissue slides. Assist with specimen documentation by utilizing medical terminology and laboratory information systems effectively. Support patient care activities related to specimen collection, including phlebotomy and vital signs measurement when required. Maintain aseptic techniques during all procedures to prevent contamination and ensure specimen integrity. Collaborate with pathology teams to interpret tissue samples and provide detailed reports for diagnosis or research purposes. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety regulations, and accreditation standards throughout all laboratory activities. Experience Proven clinical laboratory experience with a focus on histology or pathology is essential. Prior research laboratory experience involving specimen processing or histological techniques is highly desirable. Familiarity with laboratory procedures such as tissue embedding, sectioning, staining, and slide preparation. Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and pathology enhances the ability to interpret tissue samples accurately. Experience working in hospital settings or medical laboratories is preferred to understand clinical workflows. Competence in phlebotomy and patient care tasks related to specimen collection is advantageous. Strong understanding of medical terminology and laboratory safety practices is required to ensure precise communication and compliance.
