The laboratory is fully accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB). Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose Responsible for providing a variety of routine and/or complex tests and procedures on tissue and related surgical specimens submitted for histological examination. Responsibilities Tasks to include, but not limited to, microtomy, embedding, staining, reagent preparation and procedure validation. Performs, prepares, and documents quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary. May assist supervisor in maintaining quality plan, procedure manual, variance management, interdepartmental functionality, and writing policies/procedures. Understands test principles, theory, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of all instrumentation in assigned areas. Ability to utilize critical thinking skills to perform above tasks and responsibilities. Trained to perform tissue gross examination as needed.
