Job Description

JOB RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Pathology Technical Coordinator. Works under the direct supervision and instructions of the Pathologist.
DEFINITION OF POSITION
The Histotechnologist utilizes independent judgment in performing routine and complex histologic procedures. In addition this individual performs and documents daily quality control procedures; documents corrective action when quality control results exceed tolerance limits; recognizes and documents quality assurance problems and opportunities for improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS
Professional High School graduate or equivalent and, Training in an accredited Histotechnologist program or equivalent training and internship under a Pathologist and, Minimally requires thorough knowledge of histologic science and the ability to identify basic tissues and, HT (ASCP) certification. Possesses basic understanding of computers and/or is willing to learn.
