Spectrix complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws governing nondiscrimination in employment. Currently, Spectrix is searching for a histology scientist. As a member of Histology Core lab, reporting to laboratory manager, the scientist will precisely and accurately perform a variety of routine and specialized histology techniques and procedures. This position requires the production of the high quality of tissue processing, sectioning, H&E staining, and special staining including immunohistochemistry, as well as laboratory maintenance and document record-keeping. Job Responsibilities Perform tissue grossing, fixation, processing, and embedding for both fixed and fresh‑frozen specimens. Conduct microtomy of fixed and frozen tissues and ensure proper section mounting. Execute routine and advanced staining procedures, including H&E staining, special stains, and immunohistochemistry (IHC). Operate whole‑slide digital imaging systems and perform high‑quality slide scanning. Carry out quality assessments on biological tissue samples and digital slide images to ensure accuracy and compliance with laboratory standards. Receive, dispatch, catalog, and maintain biological tissue samples in accordance with departmental SOPs and laboratory work instructions. Maintain complete and accurate documentation and records as required. Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, including OSHA regulations and internal laboratory safety guidelines. Perform, document, and monitor scheduled preventative maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment. Assist in drafting, reviewing, and editing standard operating procedures (SOPs). Generate laboratory quality metrics, workload statistics, and performance reports to support operational oversight. Provide staffing support and technical coverage for the Histocore and the
CAP/CLIA
‑certified laboratory, ensuring continuous workflow and compliance with accreditation standards.
