Job Description

VisionGift is seeking a Per Diem Eye Bank Recovery Technician to recover ocular tissue for transplantation, research, and education. In this field-based role, you'll respond to donor referrals, review medical records, conduct donor suitability screenings, and perform aseptic surgical recovery of eye tissue following strict protocols. You will document all procedures, maintain equipment and supplies, and collaborate with hospital staff, funeral homes, and internal lab teams. This mission-driven position offers hands-on clinical experience while honoring donors and helping restore sight for patients in need. Responsibilities Perform aseptic ocular tissue recovery for transplant and research per established protocols Review medical records and donor history to assess donor suitability Document all recovery procedures and donor information accurately and timely Maintain recovery instruments, supplies, and equipment in sterile, ready condition Coordinate with hospital staff, funeral homes, and internal lab teams during recoveries Comply with regulatory, accreditation, and internal quality standards and SOPs Follow strict infection control, biosafety, and safety procedures at all times Participate in on-call rotation and respond to donor referrals within required timeframes Required Skills Aseptic surgical technique Tissue recovery procedures Human anatomy knowledge Medical terminology Donor screening and consent review Medical record review Infection control standards Documentation and data entry Use of surgical instruments PPE and biosafety compliance
