The main function of a histotechnologist is to perform complex medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.Job Responsibilities:
Review laboratory findings to check the accuracy of the results. Supervise clinical studies and other research projects. Instruct staff to operate, calibrate and maintain equipment used in quantitative and qualitative analysis, such as spectrophotometers, calorimeters, flame photometers, and computer-controlled analyzers. Develop, standardize, evaluate, and modify procedures, techniques and tests used in the analysis of specimens and in medical laboratory experiments. Establish and monitor quality assurance programs and activities to ensure the accuracy of laboratory results. Supervise, train, and direct lab assistants, medical and clinical laboratory technicians and technologists, and other medical laboratory workers engaged in laboratory testing.Skills:
Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and problem solving skills. Expert ability to work independently and manage one time. Expert leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback. Expert knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (international quality standard for human clinical trials) and local regulations. Expert knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries and diseases. Expert ability to analyze data and accurately document and record results.Education/Experience:
