Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in caregiving, particularly in settings such as group homes, assisted living facilities, or nursing homes. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare teams. Responsibilities Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients. Monitor and document vital signs and changes in patient conditions. Prepare meals and assist with meal planning according to dietary needs. Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping tasks. Assist with medication administration as per care plans and under supervision. Support clients with mobility needs, including the use of Hoyer lifts when necessary. Engage clients in social activities and encourage participation in community events. Implement care plans tailored to individual needs, including those for Alzheimer's care, dementia care, or developmental disabilities. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling sensitive information. Qualifications Experience in home health care, hospice care, or long-term care settings is preferred. Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is highly desirable. Familiarity with patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs. Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for client mobility assistance. Strong interpersonal skills with a passion for working with people of all ages and abilities. Experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities is a plus. Understanding of caregiving best practices, including meal preparation and cleaning duties. A background in social work or nursing is advantageous but not mandatory. Must demonstrate patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards clients.
