Our goal is to provide person-centered support that promotes independence, dignity, choice, community participation, and quality of life. As a growing organization, we are looking for dependable and compassionate Direct Support Professionals who are interested in joining our team and growing with the company. Position Summary The SLS Direct Support Professional provides individualized support to consumers based on their personal goals, needs, preferences, and authorized services. The ideal candidate is reliable, patient, respectful, and comfortable working independently while maintaining professional communication with the consumer, family members, service coordinators, and Creating Better Lives, LLC leadership. Essential Responsibilities Provide person-centered support in the consumer's home and community. Assist consumers with developing and maintaining independent living skills. Support activities of daily living and household routines as authorized. Assist with meal planning, grocery shopping, household organization, and other independent living activities. Support community integration, recreational activities, appointments, errands, and social participation. Encourage consumers to make their own choices and develop greater independence. Follow the consumer's Individual Program Plan (IPP), service goals, and individualized support strategies. Provide appropriate prompting, modeling, coaching, and skill-building. Maintain professional boundaries and protect consumer confidentiality. Complete accurate and timely service documentation, progress notes, timesheets, and other required records. Communicate changes, concerns, incidents, and significant events to the appropriate supervisor. Follow all company policies, health and safety procedures, and Regional Center requirements. Maintain a respectful, supportive, and non-discriminatory environment. Attend required training and staff meetings.
Qualifications Required:
High school diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 18 years of age. Ability to communicate effectively in English. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries. Reliable and dependable. Ability to work independently in a consumer's home and community. Must successfully complete required background screening and onboarding requirements. Ability to complete required documentation accurately and on time.
Preferred:
Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Previous experience as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), caregiver, SLS/ILS staff, behavioral support staff, or similar human services position. Experience with Regional Center-funded services. Experience supporting individuals with independent living and adaptive skills. Bilingual English/Spanish. CPR/First Aid certification. At this time:
This is a part-time, hourly position. Hours are based on authorized consumer services and individual schedules. Work hours may vary depending on consumer needs and available assignments. Employer-sponsored health, dental, vision, retirement, and other benefits are not currently offered. Paid time off is not currently offered. As the company grows, compensation, hours, and employment offerings may be reviewed and expanded. Physical & Work Requirements The position may require: Standing, walking, and moving throughout the community. Assisting with household and community activities. Ability to safely perform duties associated with the assigned consumer's support needs. Transportation to community activities when required by the assignment. Maintaining a professional and safe environment at all times. Specific physical requirements may vary depending on the individual assignment.
