Job Description

Job Overview The Caregiver is responsible for providing direct care, supervision, companionship, and support to the client to ensure their health, safety, and overall well-being. The ideal candidate is compassionate, dependable, patient, and able to establish a positive, trusting relationship with the client. This position requires close client interaction. The caregiver must enjoy socializing with the client, engaging in meaningful conversations, encouraging participation in activities, and building rapport. The ability to foster a supportive, respectful, and engaging relationship is essential to promoting the client's emotional well-being, confidence, and independence. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide direct care, supervision, and protective oversight to ensure the client's safety at all times. Build and maintain a positive, trusting relationship with the client through consistent interaction, encouragement, companionship, and meaningful conversation. Engage the client in age-appropriate educational, recreational, social, and community activities. Assist with activities of daily living as needed. Prepare meals and snacks as appropriate. Assist with maintaining daily routines and schedules. Provide transportation to appointments, recreational activities, community outings, and other approved destinations when required. Implement positive behavioral support strategies and redirect behaviors using patience, consistency, and encouragement. Monitor the client's physical, emotional, and behavioral well-being and promptly communicate concerns to the parent. Document significant observations, incidents, and changes in behavior as requested. Maintain confidentiality and treat the client with dignity, respect, and compassion. Encourage independence while providing the level of supervision necessary to maintain the client's safety. Additional Duties The responsibilities listed in this job description are intended to describe the general nature of the position and are not all-inclusive. The parent may request assistance with additional duties as needed to support the client's care, health, safety, daily routine, and household environment. Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Light housekeeping in areas used by the client. Laundry related to the client. Keeping the client's bedroom, play areas, toys, clothing, and personal belongings clean, neat, and organized. Organizing the client's toys, clothing, and personal items to maintain a safe and orderly environment. Running errands related to the client's needs. Light shopping for groceries, household items, and client-related supplies. Assisting with other reasonable duties that contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, safe, and supportive home environment. 12:30 p.m.•8:30 p.m. Schedule Flexibility Required The caregiver must be flexible with scheduling to accommodate school breaks, holidays, medical appointments, community activities, vacations, and other changes to the client's schedule. Additional or modified hours may be required based on the client's individual needs. Qualifications Experience working with individuals with developmental, intellectual, behavioral, or physical disabilities is preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to establish trust and build a positive rapport with the client. Patient, dependable, compassionate, professional, and emotionally mature. Ability to exercise sound judgment and remain calm during challenging situations. Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license are preferred. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries. Ability to follow directions while working independently. Ability to lift, assist, and actively participate in daily and community activities as needed.
