Job Description
SLS Support Staff / IHSS Provider - San Leandro, CA Bay Liberty SLS/ILS is seeking dependable, compassionate SLS Support Staff / IHSS Providers to provide one-on-one support to an adult woman living in San Leandro . We are currently looking to fill weekday and weekend shifts . This is a great position for someone who enjoys helping individuals build independence while providing patient, consistent, and encouraging support. About the Client The client is an adult woman diagnosed with Intellectual Disability, ADD, and a Learning Disability . She lives in her own home and receives Supported Living Services (SLS) to help her maintain and increase her independence. She benefits from verbal prompting, redirection, encouragement, teaching, supervision, and some hands-on assistance with daily living skills. Her current goals include improving personal hygiene, learning to safely prepare meals, maintaining her home, increasing community involvement, and improving personal and home safety. Responsibilities Assist and encourage the client with personal hygiene, grooming, bathing/showering, and daily routines Provide prompting and redirection while encouraging the client to complete as much as possible independently Assist with meal planning, grocery shopping, and preparing healthy meals Teach and supervise safe use of the stove and oven Assist with household responsibilities including laundry, sweeping, mopping, dishes, organizing, and general cleaning Provide support with community outings, recreational activities, errands, and appointments Assist with coordinating and/or providing transportation Encourage appropriate social skills and community involvement Reinforce personal and community safety , including locking doors, stranger awareness, emergency procedures, and safe use of household appliances Complete required documentation accurately and on time Communicate effectively with Bay Liberty management and other members of the client's support team Follow the client's Individual Service Plan and all Bay Liberty policies and procedures Qualifications We are looking for someone who is reliable, patient, positive, encouraging, and comfortable working independently in a client's home and community . Previous experience with SLS, ILS, IHSS, caregiving, Direct Support Professional (DSP) work, or supporting individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred. Applicants should have a valid driver's license, CPR/First aid certificate, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance and be comfortable transporting the client when needed. Candidates must also be willing and eligible to become an IHSS provider for the client .
