In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities in their own homes, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. Your responsibilities will include assisting with daily living activities, monitoring health conditions, and fostering a positive environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to client care and support and the ability to handle various tasks effectively while actively maintaining documentation.
Responsibilities May Include:
Provide one-on-one support to adults with developmental disabilities in their homes and communities Assist with daily living activities such as grooming, bathing, dressing, and meal preparation Support clients in achieving independence with tasks like shopping, cleaning, and using public transportation Follow individualized support plans and maintain client dignity, privacy, and rights Monitor and document client progress, behaviors, and activities in case notes and reports Assist in self administrations of medications and assist with medical appointments as needed (if trained and authorized) Engage clients in recreational or social activities to promote inclusion and well-being Respond to emergency situations calmly and appropriately Communicate professionally with supervisors, clients, and their support teams Maintain a safe, respectful, and clean environment for clients Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (if driving is required) Able to pass a Live Scan fingerprint background check. Must complete a pre-employment health screening, including TB clearance. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire) Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred but not required Strong communication and interpersonal skills Able to follow written and verbal instructions Reliable, patient, and compassionate Must be able to work independently and as part of a team Flexible availability, including weekends or evenings, is a plus Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others.
