Job Description
Health Center Assistant (HCA) At Harmony, compassionate care and clinical excellence come together to support individuals during critical stages of recovery. Our Health Center plays a vital role in the safety, stabilization, and well-being of clients in detoxification and treatment services. As a Health Center Assistant (HCA) , you'll be an essential part of the clinical care team, supporting licensed nursing staff by providing direct client care, monitoring, documentation, and operational support in a fast‑paced healthcare environment. This role is ideal for someone who is detail‑oriented, empathetic, and comfortable working closely with clients experiencing substance use disorders. What You'll Do Assist with client admissions, including checking vital signs, weighing clients, assisting with exams, and completing substance use checks. Safely conduct luggage searches and properly dispose of contraband items according to policy. Provide routine care and monitoring of clients throughout the detoxification process. Observe clients for changes in condition or behavior and promptly report concerns to licensed nursing staff. Accurately and thoroughly document client information in the electronic medical record (EMR). Facilitate timely delivery of client meals. Safely transport clients to and from medical appointments as needed. Collect prescribed medications from pharmacies and reconcile medication orders. Respond appropriately during medical or facility emergencies. Inventory medications and medical supplies and communicate ordering needs to the Nurse Manager. Maintain accurate, complete, and properly organized client charts. Follow all infection control and safety procedures, including proper hand hygiene, use of PPE, and disposal of soiled materials. HIPAA, HITECH, 42 CFR
Part 2, and organizational policies. Support overall health center operations by maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant care environment. Perform other duties as assigned to support client care and department operations. What You Bring High school diploma or GED equivalent. Three to six months of experience in a medical or healthcare setting preferred. QMAP designation preferred. Current CPR and First Aid certification. Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats. Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately complete documentation. Ability to establish priorities, manage time effectively, and adapt quickly in a clinical environment. Personal maturity demonstrated through sound judgment and professional decision‑making. Willingness to learn about substance use disorders, treatment approaches, and related medications. Ability to interact with clients and families with empathy, professionalism, and appropriate boundaries. Physical & Environmental Requirements Physical health sufficient to navigate stairways, access all areas of the facility, assist with ambulation, and perform CPR. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to work in a clinical setting requiring prolonged standing, walking, and exposure to medical environments.Position Details Status:
