Job Description

Job Summary Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities. In this role, you will provide compassionate, personalized care that promotes independence, enhances quality of life, and fosters community engagement. Responsibilities Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including grooming, dressing, hygiene, and meal preparation to promote independence and well-being. Implement behavior management strategies tailored to each individual's needs, supporting positive behaviors and addressing challenging situations with patience and consistency. Support communication efforts using various methods such as American Sign Language (ASL), verbal cues, or alternative communication devices to ensure effective interaction. Facilitate participation in community outings, recreational activities, and social events to promote social skills and community integration. Collect and document data related to progress, behaviors, medication administration, and other relevant information accurately for ongoing care planning. Assist with medication administration following prescribed protocols while maintaining safety standards. Maintain a safe environment by adhering to health regulations, safety procedures, and emergency protocols at all times. Qualifications Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, or behavioral health needs is highly preferred. Knowledge of special education principles and behavior management techniques is advantageous. Previous home & community care experience or caregiving background is desirable. Ability to drive safely and reliably for transportation needs related to client outings or appointments. Familiarity with data collection methods related to client progress or behavioral tracking. Compassionate attitude with excellent interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with clients and their families. Ability to assist with childcare tasks when needed and work effectively as part of a team dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities.
