Overview Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or memory care requirements. In this vital role, you will provide compassionate, personalized care that promotes independence, dignity, and well-being. Whether assisting with daily activities, supporting community engagement, or monitoring health and safety, your efforts will empower individuals to thrive in a safe and nurturing environment. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to work closely with diverse populations, including seniors, individuals with autism, or those needing hospice or dementia care. Responsibilities Support residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance using tools like Hoyer lifts when necessary Monitor health status by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare teams in accordance with HIPAA regulations Assist with medication administration following care plans and ensure proper documentation of patient care activities Prepare nutritious meals and assist residents with meal planning and preparation to meet dietary needs and preferences Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols in group homes or home settings Engage residents through social activities, companionship, and community outings to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being Follow safety procedures during heavy lifting or when using specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts Requirements Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, group homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia/dementia care, Alzheimer's care, and memory care practices Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are advantageous Ability to work effectively with people with disabilities, developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder or aging-related conditions including hospice or palliative care needs Strong communication skills for documenting patient information accurately and collaborating with healthcare teams Physical ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely and assist residents with mobility needs using appropriate equipment Compassionate attitude combined with patience and resilience to support individuals through their daily routines Join us in creating a supportive environment where every individual receives respectful, attentive care.
