Job Description
Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) overnight to provide high-quality care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, seniors, or those in assisted living settings. This role involves working overnight shifts to ensure the safety, well-being, and comfort of residents in a variety of care environments including group homes, nursing homes, and home & community care settings. The ideal candidate will have experience in medication administration, and assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs). A strong commitment to person-centered care and excellent communication skills are essential. Duties Provide personal care support including assistance with dressing, grooming. Monitor residents' vital signs and overall health status; recognize and respond appropriately to health changes. Assist with medication administration following prescribed protocols and documentation procedures using a MAR Support residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as meal preparation, feeding, toileting, and hygiene. Implement behavior management strategies tailored to individual needs, especially for residents with behavior plans. Ensure a safe environment by adhering to safety protocols and maintaining cleanliness in resident areas. Document care provided accurately and report any concerns or incidents to supervisory staff promptly. Engage residents in social activities and provide companionship to promote emotional well-being during overnight hours. Provide a deep cleaning in all common areas. Follow all policies related to infection control, resident rights, and confidentiality. Qualifications Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, home & community care, or group homes is preferred. At least 1 year verifiable employment Certification or training in first aid is highly desirable; CPR certification is a plus. Experience with medication administration and vital signs monitoring. Ability to work independently during overnight shifts while maintaining high standards of safety and quality of care. Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate approach to caregiving. Valid driver's license is advantageous for driving between locations if required. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities is preferred. Familiarity with communicable logs for documentation purposes is beneficial.
