Our team is committed to providing high-quality care while promoting dignity, respect, and inclusion for every client we serve. We work with individuals who receive services through the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD). APD is a Florida state agency that helps individuals with developmental disabilities access services and support that promote independence, personal growth, and community involvement. Position Title Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver Position Summary The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides assistance and support to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities in their homes and communities. Services are tailored to each client's individual needs and goals and may vary from case to case. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Personal Support Services Depending on the client's care plan, duties may include: Assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) Helping clients with bathing, grooming, dressing, and personal hygiene Assisting with meal planning and meal preparation Providing medication reminders (when authorized) Supporting clients with light housekeeping related to their care Encouraging independence and skill development Monitoring and reporting changes in a client's condition or needs Companion Services Some assignments may focus primarily on companionship and community involvement, including: Accompanying clients to medical appointments and community activities Providing social interaction and emotional support Assisting clients during outings, such as walks in the park, shopping trips, or recreational activities Helping clients participate in community events and maintain social connections Ensuring client safety while in the community Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license may be required for certain cases Ability to communicate professionally and effectively Compassionate, patient, and dependable Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times Previous caregiving experience is preferred but not required Training and Certification Requirements Required trainings and certifications will be provided by the company. The cost of training and certification is $190.00, which will be deducted from the employee's pay according to company policy and applicable laws. Employees must successfully complete all required trainings and maintain any certifications required for their assigned cases. Employment Classification This position is classified as an Independent Contractor (1099) position. Individuals working in this role will receive a 1099 tax form at the end of the tax year and are responsible for their own federal, state, and local tax obligations, including any applicable self-employment taxes. Work Environment Assignments may take place in clients' homes, community settings, medical offices, recreational facilities, or other approved locations. Work schedules vary based on client needs and may include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
