Job Description

Overview The Life Skills Development I (Companion) Provider works directly with individuals with developmental disabilities to support their independence, community involvement, socialization, and development of everyday life skills. The ideal candidate is dependable, patient, compassionate, and comfortable providing individualized support in the client's home and community. Provide companionship and supervision according to the individual's Support Plan. Assist clients with developing and maintaining appropriate social and interpersonal skills. Encourage participation in recreational, social, and community-based activities. Support clients in increasing independence and community integration. Assist with activities related to daily living and independent living skills, as appropriate to the service. Accompany clients to approved community activities, appointments, shopping, recreational outings, and other activities identified in their plan. Encourage appropriate communication, decision-making, and self-advocacy skills. Promote safety, dignity, independence, and respect at all times. Follow the client's Person-Centered Support Plan and service authorization. Complete required service documentation accurately and on time. Communicate professionally with clients, families, Waiver Support Coordinators, supervisors, and other members of the care team. Comply with APD Waiver requirements, company policies, confidentiality standards, and HIPAA regulations. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be at least 18 years of age. Experience working with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities is preferred. Compassionate, patient, responsible, and reliable. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and follow individualized service plans. Must be able to complete all required APD background screening, training, and provider requirements. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance preferred for community-based services. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred. What We Offer Flexible scheduling.
