Job Description

Overview Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with diverse needs. In this vital role, you will provide compassionate, personalized care to promote independence, safety, and well-being. Whether supporting seniors, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those experiencing memory care challenges, your efforts will foster a nurturing environment where clients feel valued and empowered. This rewarding position offers the opportunity to develop strong relationships while delivering essential daily assistance in a variety of settings, including home care, group homes, assisted living facilities, and nursing homes. Responsibilities Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to ensure comfort and dignity. Support medication administration and monitor vital signs to maintain health and safety standards. Provide companionship and engage clients in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being. Operate equipment such as Hoyer lifts and assist with mobility needs to prevent falls and injuries. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements while maintaining cleanliness in the client's environment. Document care activities accurately using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and communicate updates with healthcare teams. Manage behavioral challenges with patience and effective behavior management techniques, especially for clients with dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Requirements Prior experience in long-term care, assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred. Knowledge of caregiving practices including assisting with ADLs, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and dementia or Alzheimer's care. Certification or training in first aid is advantageous; willingness to obtain relevant certifications is expected. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in dynamic environments such as group homes or personal care homes. Strong communication skills to effectively support residents' needs and collaborate with healthcare professionals. Valid driver's license for roles involving transportation or driving responsibilities. Physical ability to perform caregiving tasks that may include lifting, transferring residents using Hoyer lifts, or cleaning duties.
