Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and patient Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one in-home support for a high school student. The ideal candidate will promote independence while ensuring the student's safety, comfort, and well-being in a positive and supportive home environment. DSP will be responsible for getting the student off the bus and providing care from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Duties Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using proper patient transfer methods and manual handling techniques like the Hoyer lift. Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary needs and assist clients with meal planning and preparation to promote healthy eating habits. Provide companionship and facilitate social activities to promote mental stimulation, especially for individuals with dementia or neurodevelopmental disorders like autism. Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks and ensuring infection control standards are met in accordance with health regulations. Support clients during community outings or personal transportation needs using appropriate safety measures. Document observations related to patient care, including patient personal care assistance, patient monitoring, and responses during hospice or home health services. Experience Candidates should possess prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities support,medication administration, first aid and CPR certification is essential. Knowledge of care plans development and implementation is preferred. Experience working with individuals with autism or neurodevelopmental disorders will enhance your ability to provide tailored support.
