Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support and care to individuals in various settings, including home, assisted living, nursing homes, and community environments. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those with diverse needs, including seniors, individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, or those recovering from illness. The ideal candidate will be energetic, detail-oriented, and committed to promoting independence, safety, and well-being for every person they serve. This paid position emphasizes professional growth and the chance to develop valuable skills in patient care and support. Duties Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility assistance using equipment like Hoyer lifts or other transfer aids. Monitor patients' vital signs and observe changes in health status to ensure safety and prompt reporting of concerns. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs while maintaining proper hygiene and food safety standards. Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and accuracy. Provide companionship and emotional support to foster social engagement and mental well-being. Maintain cleanliness of living spaces through light cleaning duties, laundry assistance, and ensuring a safe environment. Document care activities accurately in compliance with care plans, including patient observations and progress notes. Follow all safety protocols during patient transfers or heavy lifting activities to prevent injury. Collaborate with healthcare professionals such as nurses or social workers to coordinate comprehensive care plans. Engage in ongoing training related to Alzheimer's care, dementia management, hospice support, or working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities. Qualifications Prior experience in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments is highly preferred. Certification in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and First Aid is required; additional certifications like HIPAA training are advantageous. Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with disabilities or special needs such as autism or dementia. Strong patient observation skills with the ability to recognize changes in health status promptly. Physical stamina for activities involving heavy lifting and assisting with mobility; experience using assistive devices like Hoyer lifts is beneficial. Knowledge of medication administration procedures and safety protocols related to patient monitoring. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and healthcare team members. Compassionate attitude combined with a proactive approach to caregiving responsibilities.
