Job Description
Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Community-Based Manawa Lea Health Services is looking for dependable, caring, and energetic Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide community-based support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. About the Position This is a community-based position only . You will not be working at our day program or facility. DSPs will meet their assigned participant at a designated community location, such as a shopping mall, park, library, recreation center, restaurant, or other community setting , and spend the scheduled day supporting them with community activities. Your goal is to help participants have a safe, enjoyable, and meaningful day in the community while encouraging independence, socialization, and participation. Responsibilities Meet participants at designated community locations Support participants with community outings and activities Encourage independence, social interaction, and community participation Assist with meals, purchases, and activities as needed Maintain participant safety and supervision while in the community Provide transportation between community locations when required Communicate appropriately with participants, families, and supervisors Complete required documentation for services provided Requirements Reliable personal transportation is required Valid driver's license and current auto insurance Dependable and punctual Comfortable driving and spending the workday in the community Ability to work independently without direct on-site supervision Patient, compassionate, and respectful when supporting adults with developmental disabilities Ability to communicate effectively with participants and supervisors Previous DSP, caregiver, CNA, healthcare, or developmental disability experience is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person This Position Is a
