Overview The Public Health Home Care Aide position works directly within the VNA Public Health services grant to assure the provision of core public health functions and essential public health services. VNA Home Care Aides support the improvement of local public health capacity to address health priorities and develop conditions for healthy people and healthy communities through the provision of support services driven by patient needs. Responsibilities Provides hands-on care (bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, skin care, ROM exercises) and supports therapy/nursing tasks per physician orders and plan of care. Assists with ambulation, exercises, and self-administered medications. Ensures safe, high-quality care under RN supervision; uses equipment and supplies effectively. Observes, documents, and reports patient changes; communicates with the care team to coordinate care. Maintains infection control and safety standards; participates in case conferences, in-services, and quality improvement initiatives. Builds positive relationships with patients, families, and team members while maintaining professional boundaries. Meets documentation, productivity, and performance standards.
Qualifications Education:
High School Diploma/GED required.
Preferred:
Completion of a 120-hour Nursing Assistant course.
Experience:
Must be at least 18 years of age in accordance with regulatory requirements required. Completion of a Nursing Assistant Training Program of a minimum of 75 hours with no continuous period of 24-months without compensation for Home Care Aide/CNA work after completion required.
Preferred:
2+ years of home care experience. License(s)/Certification(s): Valid Drivers License required. Auto Insurance required when driving a personal vehicle. Maintain BLS certification American Heart Association (AHA) required. Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training required. Iowa Adult Dependent Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training required.
Preferred:
Valid State of Iowa Certified Nursing Assistant - Iowa Department Of Inspections & Appeals (IADIA)
