The Resident Care Assistant operates under the direction of the Resident Care Manager. The Resident Care Assistant is responsible for assisting residents with their personal care needs as specified on their service plan.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Support the operations and programs of the residence so as to maximize residents' physical and cognitive independence and wellbeing. Deliver direct personal care services to residents as assigned. These services may include but are not limited to: assistance with dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, personal hygiene, ambulation, transfers, and eating. Re-orient, re-teach and supervise activities of daily living. Encourage and monitor proper nutritional eating habits. Prompt and monitor residents' compliance with self-administered medication management schedule and document appropriately. Keep records of all activities performed and the amount of time spent in each task. Respond to medical emergencies in accordance with standard operating procedures when they occur in the residence. Document in resident's record and report to the nurse in charge any changes in a resident's status or any incident that has occurred during your shift. At the conclusion of each shift, complete all required documentation including home health aide notes, medication log and incident reports. Assist residents in traveling to scheduled medical appointments as required. Any additional duties as required to fulfill the scope of the position.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
A high school diploma or its equivalent. Current nursing assistant certification (CNA) in Illinois and good standing on the IDPH Health Care Worker Registry. Current CPR and first aid certifications a plus.Experience:
Work with the elderly or disabled and their families preferred. Previous community or home health experience preferred but not a requirement.Skills:
Ability to read and write English and skills necessary to maintain required resident care records. Ability to understand instructions and follow directions. Social and emotional maturity necessary to interact with the residents, their families and residence personnel. An empathetic attitude toward providing services to functionally impaired persons. Possess an understanding and respect for client confidentiality.Physical:
Free from any and all health problems that may endanger the well-being of the resident or that may impact upon the employee's ability to satisfactorily perform his/her job. Have access to dependable transportation.Required Training:
Complete a six-hour assisted living orientation before beginning work with residents. Ongoing in-service education and training as required.Benefit Conditions:
