PATIENT CARE ASSISTANT FRANCISCAN ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY CENTER WHAT YOU WILL DO
Performs delegated patient care activities as directed by the RN or medical staff upon completion of documented training, in a manner that is aligned with age specific needs of the patient to ensure safe, accurate and high-quality treatment of patients. Documentation of patient care. Participate in organization, cleaning and safety of unit. Maintains unit supplies, prepares patient rooms and medical records, enters charges, and answers the multi-line telephone to assist in the safe and efficient operation of the unit. Answers questions about treatment plan within the expected scope or refers questions to RN. Make rounds and respond promptly to patient requests. Assist in the admission, transfer and discharge of patients as directed.
WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED
One year of healthcare experience. Knowledge of procedures and protocols necessary to provide patient safety. Understanding of common medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. Flexibility in staffing and adaptability to changes in patient care practice. High attention to detail with strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to display empathy while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. Ability to demonstrate tact and understanding when dealing with others and responds in a positive manner to constructive criticism. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Qualifications Preferred High School Diploma/GED 1 year Prior experience in a healthcare related field Preferred Basic Life Support Program (BLS) -
