Job Description

Overview We are seeking compassionate and dedicated •Direct Support Professionals• to provide high-quality care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, cognitive impairments, and age-related conditions. This role involves assisting clients in their daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their safety and well-being within residential, community, or home care settings. Ideal candidates will have a strong commitment to person-centered care and possess relevant experience in long-term care, geriatrics, or specialized support environments. Duties Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting Support clients with medication administration following prescribed protocols Monitor vital signs and observe health changes to report to healthcare professionals Provide personal care using safe patient lifting practices and equipment such as Hoyer lifts Facilitate meal preparation and assist with feeding as needed Engage clients in social activities, recreational programs, and community outings to promote socialization and independence Implement behavior management strategies tailored to individual needs, especially for clients with dementia or Alzheimer's disease Maintain accurate documentation of care provided using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems Ensure a clean, safe environment by adhering to infection control and cleaning protocols Operate standard passenger cars for client transportation when required Communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members to coordinate care plans and updates Qualifications Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, residential care homes, or home & community care is highly desirable Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, memory care, dementia care, geriatrics, and behavioral management techniques Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred; ongoing training will be provided for qualified candidates Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting safely Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive disabilities is a plus Valid driver's license for client transportation responsibilities Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with clients of all ages and abilities Ability to work independently or as part of a team in various settings such as group homes or personal residences Flexibility to work shifts that may include evenings or weekends if necessary; a commitment to providing consistent support is essential This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those you serve while working in a supportive environment dedicated to professional growth.
