$20.40/hour Position Summary Looking for a rewarding career where you can make a meaningful impact every day? The Arc of Opportunity is seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our Day Habilitation Program. As a DSP in Day Habilitation, you will support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in achieving personal goals, building independence, and enhancing their quality of life. You will provide direct support through individualized skill-building activities, therapeutic programming, community engagement, and personal care assistance as needed. About the Day Habilitation Program The Day Habilitation Program is a therapy-based service designed to help individuals increase independence and achieve meaningful goals. Individualized Day Hab Service Plans are developed using recommendations from Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Behavioral Specialists. Participants engage in activities that promote personal growth and skill development, including:
- Baking and cooking activities
- Arts and crafts
- Music therapy
- Expressive art therapy
- Community outings
- Social and life skills development Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with skill-building activities and support them in achieving personal goals and objectives.
- Implement individualized Day Hab Service Plans and document progress toward established outcomes.
- Facilitate engaging group activities that align with participant interests and abilities.
- Encourage independence, self-advocacy, and community inclusion.
- Collaborate with team members and clinical professionals to ensure quality service delivery.
- Assist with personal care needs, including toileting, hygiene, transfers, and mobility support when required.
- Complete documentation and administrative tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
- Attend required trainings, meetings, and professional development activities.
- Maintain professional conduct while adhering to agency policies, confidentiality requirements, and ethical standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned. Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, lifting, and twisting.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform safe transfers and mobility assistance for individuals who use wheelchairs.
- Ability to provide personal care support, including changing, toileting, showering, and hygiene assistance.
- Ability to perform approved physical restraints when necessary and in accordance with training and agency policy.
Qualifications Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
