Job Description

At DOFA Pathwats, our Meaningful Day Direct Support Professionals provide loving care and support in the community throughout Maryland for people with developmental disabilities. Our employees help the people we serve to learn independent living skills, plan activities in the community, and implement person-centered plans. Additionally, our employees assist individuals in obtaining and accessing appropriate social, recreational, educational, and employment services. This is a
FULL-TIME
position. Due to the nature of our program, hours may be weekdays and/or weekends. The employee will have two floating days off each week. Eligible candidates must be at least 18 years old and must have a high school diploma/GED and a current driver's license with a good driving record for the last three years. At least one year of experience. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old High school diploma or GED required Must have a current driver's license with no more than 5 points At least one year of experience in the human services field preferred Must display a genuine interest in the well-being of adults with developmental disabilities Must demonstrate the ability to resolve problems and conflict effectively Must be able to deal with confidential information appropriately Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisor, peers, individuals, and families Must be able to maintain a consistent work schedule, being dependable and securing coverage when absent Must display a positive attitude when interacting with others Must be able to teach skills, provide support, and build on each individual's strengths and capabilities Responsibilities Support individuals with participating as fully as they wish in all aspects of community life Responsible for working within all facets of job development to include job coaching Ensures a safe environment where individuals are free from abuse and neglect Assists individuals with daily transportation needs to maximize independence. Reports medical concerns, conditions, and changes in health status in a timely fashion Maintains accurate documentation including Medical Administration Records Administers and maintains ongoing medication and physician orders Assists individuals to become an active participant in their community and to build natural support networks. Assists individuals to become an active participant in their community and to build natural support networks; Support and promote individuals by providing choice in obtaining employment, educational, social, and recreational services Support and promote people with developmental disabilities by providing choice in obtaining employment, educational, social, and recreational services Performs other duties as assigned
