Job Description

This Position is temporary from July to September. Monday through Friday 8am-9am and 3pm-6pm in the Towson/Parkville area. Some weekend hours. Job Summary The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. This position involves assisting clients with daily living activities, promoting their independence, and ensuring their overall well-being. The DSP will work closely with clients to foster a supportive environment that respects their rights and dignity. Duties Provide direct support to clients in their daily activities, including personal care and assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). Monitor and record vital signs, ensuring any changes in health status are reported promptly. Assist clients with mobility, including lifting and transferring as necessary to ensure safety and comfort. Observe and document client behavior and progress, maintaining accurate records of care provided. Educate clients about their rights as residents and advocate for their needs within the care setting. Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's unique requirements. Provide first aid as needed and respond appropriately to emergencies. Support clients in accessing community resources and participating in social activities. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for hospice patients when applicable. Qualifications Previous experience in direct support or home health care is preferred. Knowledge of vital signs monitoring and basic first aid practices. Strong understanding of resident rights and the ability to advocate effectively for clients. Ability to assist with hospice care when required, demonstrating compassion and sensitivity. Excellent observation skills to monitor client behavior and report any concerns. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with clients, families, and team members. Ability to lift clients safely and assist them with mobility challenges. Pay:
$17.50 - $20.00 per hour
