Duties Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene to ensure comfort and dignity. Monitor patients' health by taking vital signs, observing for changes, and reporting findings accurately to healthcare teams. Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance. Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning while maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area. Operate patient transfer equipment like Hoyer lifts safely and effectively to support mobility needs. Engage in patient observation to identify behavioral or health changes, especially in individuals with dementia, autism, or developmental disabilities. Maintain detailed documentation of care provided, patient progress, and adherence to resident's rights policies. Support residents' participation in community activities or outings using personal transportation assistance when needed. Follow all safety protocols including first aid and CPR certification to respond promptly during emergencies. Uphold confidentiality and privacy standards according to HIPAA guidelines while communicating effectively with clients and team members. Qualifications Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, or in senior care settings such as nursing homes or assisted living facilities is highly preferred. Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care techniques, and hospice or home health services is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting and patient transfers using proper techniques like the Hoyer lift. Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and understanding resident's rights are essential. Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications related to caregiving or specialized care (e.g., medication administration) are a plus. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments while maintaining patience and compassion. Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities will enhance your effectiveness in this role.
