Job Description
Registered Behavior Technician needed to provide Community & Personal Supports for Individual with Profound Autism in Westminister Seeking part-time professional to support employer who uses a communication device along with nonverbal communication to express his wants and needs.
Flexible hours:
16-24 hours worked over two days each week on a regular schedule Successful applicants need to have behavior supports training and experience working with individuals with behavioral and communication challenges Benefits include mileage reimbursement and paid time off and paid training on person-specific behavior plan by employer's Behavior Consultant.Responsibilities:
Provide outstanding supports at home and in the community for employer's activities. Remain within arm's length when in public spaces and be able to recognize signs that employer may be about to elope or act out in an inappropriate way; including, but not limited to: Meal preparation, including nutritional components and physical assistance with preparing food, cutting food, pouring fluids, and accessing items in kitchen Assist with navigating public spaces Transport to and from community engagements in the staff's own vehicle - requires appropriate insurance coverage and acceptable driving record Provide support in the completion of his daily activities both within his home and in the community- Participates in team meetings and discussions when requested
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required along with RBT certification or willingness to work with BCBA to obtain certification within six months of employment
- Certification with accredited training course through the State of Maryland and current certification through American Heart Association in Basic Life (or equivalent CPR/FA certification)
- Ability to pass a Federal background check
- Knowledge of and adherence to procedures related to bloodborne pathogens or willingness to take training
- Current driver's license and car insurance with reliable car and driving record acceptable to employer
- Ability to handle physical aspects of job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, walking while also attending to signals of upcoming inappropriate behavior of employee and dissipating same
- Ability to maintain HIPPA compliance and confidentiality
- Previous experience working with individuals with Autism and other disabilities
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and document actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records, and maintains work operations by following policies and procedures
- Confidentiality, problem solving, reading, writing, verbal communication, time management, multiple concurrent tasks
Physical Effort:
Walking, bending at waist, crouching, kneeling, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, squatting, talking, seeing, hearing, writing, driving, sitting, and standing. Must be able to assist employer with his personal tasks as needed- Working conditions: potential exposure to blood and other body fluids
