Job Description

Direct Support Professionals work with individuals with mental or developmental disabilities by following care plans made for clients. Direct Support Professionals is also responsible for creating a safe, positive and encouraging atmosphere for the clients they serve. They work closely with their clients to enhance their decision-making skills and encourage them to engage in more activities that will help strengthen their physical and mental health. Direct Support Professionals often teach clients how to complete certain tasks on their own to promote a more independent and satisfying lifestyle. Key Duties 1) Assisting clients with daily personal tasks, including bathing and dressing 2) Completing housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, washing dishes and tidying 3) Helping plan client appointments and organize a schedule 4) Organizing with transportation arrangements to appointments 5) Shopping for groceries and preparing meals that meet specific client dietary needs 6) Encouraging client engagement in social networks and communities 7) Attention to detail, especially when adhering to specific protocols and rules while carefully following instructions to care for the needs of the client 8) Integrity to ensure clients feel safe and comfortable when tending to personal care 9) Trustworthiness and dependability so clients and their families feel comfortable. 10) Interpersonal skills when working with clients, families and other DSPs 11) Having compassion and being sensitive to their clients' needs 12) Physical stamina when performing tasks such as lifting or turning their clients
LEWISTON PERDIEM SHIFT DETAILS PER- DIEM DSP MUST BE ABLE TO WORK NO LESS THAN 4 SHIFTS PER MONTH TO KEEP EMPLOYMENT WITH IRC. PER-DIEM STAFF WILL BE CALLED AND SCHEDULED BASED ON WHAT THEY HAVE PROVIDED FOR PER- DIEM DAYS AVAILABILITY.
Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older Valid Driver's License, Auto Insurance, Inspection and Registration (Required) Reliable Transportation (Required) High school Diploma/ GED (Required) DSP Cert and CPR/First Aid (Required); CRMA Preferred Ability to pass Background checks
Work Environment:
Residential home or individual's home. May require work on evenings, weekends, or holidays. Direct Support Professionals provide emotional support, understanding, and companionship to those they care for, promoting their dignity and self-worth.
