About The Role Assists teachers in district classrooms for the cognitively impaired or physically/otherwise health impaired by performing a variety of duties designed to carry out individual student education and positive behavioral support plans. Provide physical support to students with varying strength and limited mobility including wheelchair transfers and lift equipment. Implements program-wide and individual student behavior intervention programs, including monitoring behavior data collection, preparing incident reports, physical intervention and reward system under the direction of classroom teachers. Supervises and monitors students within classroom activities as well as non-structured settings (i.e. arrival, departure, lunch, field trips and recess). Qualifications Desired High School Diploma or GED required. Ability to interact with professionals and health care aides in providing a positive educational experience for children. Physical ability to safely lift students as needed: 50 pounds, or up to 100 pounds with assistance. Ability to push and pull heavy objects, repeatedly kneel, bend, twist or stand for long periods of time and other physical requirements when necessary.
