Job Description
Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, helping them achieve greater independence and improve their quality of life. Your commitment to caregiving and understanding of resident rights will be vital in creating a safe and nurturing environment. Responsibilities Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks. Support clients in developing life skills and achieving personal goals. Maintain a clean and organized living space for residents. Foster positive relationships with clients while respecting their dignity and rights. Document care provided and report any changes in client condition or behavior. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of client information. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses, to provide comprehensive care. Engage clients in social activities that promote community involvement and enhance their well-being. Requirements Previous experience in caregiving or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred. Knowledge of dementia care, home health, or assisted living practices is a plus. Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients. Understanding of resident rights and commitment to advocating for those rights. Ability to perform basic cooking tasks for meal preparation. Must be able to pass background checks as required by state regulations. A caring attitude, patience, and empathy are essential traits for success in this role.
