Job Description

Job Overview As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs. You will provide compassionate care and support in various settings, including group homes, assisted living facilities, and home care environments. Your responsibilities will encompass assisting clients with daily living activities, ensuring their safety and well-being, and fostering a supportive community atmosphere. Duties Support clients in engaging with their communities through social activities and outings. Implement care plans tailored to each individual's needs while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Assist with medication administration as prescribed by healthcare professionals. Assist individuals with vocational task in the work setting. Accompanying individuals to be actively engaged in their community. Maintaining a safe work environment. Keeping required documentation records current and legible Skills Candidates should possess a combination of required and preferred skills that contribute to effective caregiving: First Aid and CPR certification is highly desirable. Experience working in group homes or assisted living settings is beneficial. Familiarity with patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs. Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, and memory care practices. Experience in home health or hospice care environments is advantageous. Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility challenges. Skills in cooking and meal preparation tailored to dietary needs are essential. Understanding of direct support principles, including working with individuals with autism or other disabilities.
