ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct support services to individuals receiving services through Impact Support Services. The DSP works directly with individuals to support participation in meaningful activities, increase independence, implement individualized goals, and ensure health, safety, and well-being in home, community, and program settings. Day Services Assignment Support individuals in center-based and community-based day activities. Facilitate participation in recreational, habilitative, and skill-building activities. Assist with activity preparation and program setup.
JOB SUMMARY
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you'll support individuals in small group settings (1-6 people), helping them build independence, confidence, and life skills.
You will:
Support individuals in meaningful day program activities that promote independence, inclusion, and personal growth. Implement individualized goals and support plans while encouraging independence. Provide supervision, personal care assistance, medication administration (as applicable), and support with community participation. Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals in program and community settings. Maintain accurate documentation and comply with agency policies, HIPAA, and program requirements. Communicate professionally with individuals, families, coworkers, and stakeholders.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with individuals, families, and team members. Ability to implement person-centered supports, adapt activities to individual needs, and effectively problem solve. Ability to complete accurate documentation, maintain confidentiality, and uphold professional boundaries. Proficient in basic computer skills and able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
WHAT YOU BRING
18+ years of age High school diploma, GED, or equivalent Valid driver's license (ability to obtain Class E license within 14 days of hire) Proof of valid vehicle insurance Reliable ability to pass background and reference checks
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stay active throughout the day (standing, walking, sitting, using hands) Willingness to assist with lifting, repositioning, and personal care support when needed Ability to provide safe, attentive support during daily activities
