Job Description

Seeking a Direct Service Support Professional/Job Coach (DSP) for a lovely young woman with Down syndrome who lives at home with her family, works two jobs and is working towards living independently. She's hoping to move to her own house within the next year. The position is part-time and very flexible. Ideally the family needs someone Monday — Friday from 9-3PM but again this could be very flexible. Because the job is part-time, the family is willing to be flexible on the days of the week. Job requirements :
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Have a clean criminal record, healthcare registry, and Office of Inspector General checks.
  • Have a satisfactory driving record and appropriate limits of auto insurance if providing transportation.
Preferred Qualifications :
Looking for a caring, compassionate, and energetic candidate; it would be helpful if the candidate had familiarity with the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) community.
Key Responsibilities :
The client has a very specific daily schedule and the DSP would work on specific goals within her schedule, transporting her to her jobs, weekly exercise and running a few weekly errands.
Some of her goals include:
Assisting her with new tasks or breaking down difficult tasks (she works at a fulfillment warehouse working with others who have IDD) Helping her to stay on task while at work. Ensuring that she gets to work safely and tells you where she is going throughout the day. Assisting her with light grocery shopping just to ensure no one takes advantage of her. Reminding her when it's time for laundry. Assisting with problem solving when the daily routine is interrupted or disturbed. Complete documentation of activities and significant events. Submit documentation and payroll data according to scheduled deadlines.
Pay:
$21.00 - $23.00 per hour
