Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Male Direct Support Professional to join our team in providing exceptional care and support to individuals with developmental and cognitive disabilities. In this vital role, you will serve as a trusted caregiver, assisting residents with daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their safety and well-being. Responsibilities Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote independence and dignity. Support residents with medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and health-related needs following prescribed protocols. Operate standard passenger vehicles safely for transportation needs such as appointments or outings. Implement behavior management strategies tailored to individual needs, especially for residents with dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Use manual handling techniques and equipment such as Hoyer lifts to ensure safe patient lifting practices. Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary plans and assist with meal consumption when necessary. Maintain accurate documentation using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and communicate effectively with team members about resident status and care plans. Experience Prior assisted living or long-term care experience is highly preferred, especially within residential care homes or retirement communities. Demonstrated experience working with individuals with disabilities, including developmental disabilities, cognitive impairments, or geriatrics. Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's support strategies, and memory care techniques is essential. Hands-on experience with vital signs measurement, medication administration, CPR certification, and first aid is required. Familiarity with home & community care environments, group home settings, or nursing homes will be advantageous. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and manage physical tasks involved in caregiving roles. Experience operating EMR systems and performing routine cleaning duties to maintain a safe environment is beneficial.
