Job Description
Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Home & Community Based Supports (HCBS) Serenity, LLC Serving All 21 Counties in New Jersey Full-Time | Part-Time | Per Diem Hourly rates range from $21.50-$26.50 per hour, based on relevant experience, qualifications, and the complexity of the individual's support needs. Make a Difference Every Day Serenity is a New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) provider dedicated to empowering adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to live meaningful, independent, and fulfilling lives in their communities. We are seeking compassionate, reliable, and motivated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide one-on-one Home and Community Based Supports (HCBS) throughout all 21 counties in New Jersey. As a DSP, you will play a vital role in helping individuals achieve their personal goals, build independence, develop life skills, and actively participate in their communities. DSPs are a critical part of New Jersey's HCBS system and support individuals in living active, valued lives in their communities. What You'll Do Community Inclusion & Engagement Support individuals in participating in community activities, recreation, volunteer opportunities, and social events. Assist with building natural supports and meaningful relationships. Encourage community participation based on individual interests and goals. Independent Living Skills Teach and support daily living skills including: o Meal planning and preparation o Household management o Laundry and cleaning o Budgeting and money management o Personal organization o Shopping and errands Personal Support Assist with personal care as needed while promoting dignity and independence. Support health and wellness goals. Provide medication reminders and assistance as authorized. Transportation Transport individuals safely to appointments, activities, employment, and community events. Maintain accurate mileage and transportation records. Documentation & Compliance Complete daily service notes and required documentation accurately and timely. Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements. Report incidents, health concerns, and safety issues according to agency and DDD guidelines. Person-Centered Supports Follow individualized service plans and person-centered goals. Promote self-advocacy, choice, and independence. Utilize positive behavior support strategies when needed. Qualifications Required High School Diploma or GED Minimum age of 18 years Valid driver's license and reliable insured vehicle Ability to pass background checks and all DDD-required screenings Ability to use a smartphone, tablet, or computer for documentation Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently in community settings Preferred Experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities Experience in human services, caregiving, behavioral health, education, or social services CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain) Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply Why Join Serenity?
