Competitive hourly rate based on experience and credentials Position Summary Autism Assist is seeking compassionate, dependable, and energetic Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and/or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) to provide one-on-one support for adults with autism and developmental disabilities. The individual supported may be non-verbal and requires assistance with community participation, social engagement, recreational activities, life skills development, and daily living support. This role focuses on helping individuals live meaningful, active, and fulfilling lives while promoting independence, dignity, and personal growth. Primary ResponsibilitiesCommunity Integration & Social Support Accompany individuals on community outings, including walks, parks, movies, sporting events, shopping, restaurants, and recreational activities. Encourage participation in community-based activities and social interactions. Assist individuals in developing friendships and community connections. Daily Living & Personal Support Provide support with daily living activities as needed. Assist with meal preparation and healthy lifestyle activities. Support personal organization and routine development. Promote independence and self-advocacy skills. Educational & Enrichment Activities Engage individuals in learning activities tailored to their interests and abilities. Assist with communication-building exercises and structured activities. Support technology-based learning, games, arts and crafts, reading, and other educational opportunities. Encourage participation in hobbies and skill-building programs. Behavioral & Emotional Support Follow individualized support plans and behavior support strategies. Provide positive reinforcement and encouragement. Maintain a calm, patient, and supportive environment. Document significant observations and progress as required. Safety & Transportation Ensure the individual's safety at all times. Transport individuals to community activities, appointments, and recreational events when required. Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality. QualificationsRequired High School Diploma or GED. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to pass background screening and reference checks. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Compassionate, patient, and dependable personality. Preferred Experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or special needs. DSP Certification, COTA certification, RBT certification, Special Education experience, or related human services background. CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
