The Home Health Aide (HHA) plays a key role in supporting residents' daily care needs under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This position involves assisting with personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, and basic health-related tasks, while also fostering emotional well-being and maintaining a safe, clean environment. HHAs are expected to follow individualized care plans and adapt to residents' changing needs, always upholding the hospital's values of Respect, Efficiency, Accountability, and Caring (REACH). Education & Requirements Candidates must be at least 18 years old and have completed a New York State Department of Health-approved training program, with current HHA certification . They should demonstrate emotional maturity, physical and mental stability, and be able to communicate effectively in English and the predominant language of the residents. Annual participation in 12 hours of in-service education is required. Strong interpersonal skills, a sympathetic attitude, and the ability to follow instructions and maintain records are essential.Per diem work requirements:
minimum of 2 days per month. Responsibilities HHAs provide personal care such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and feeding assistance. They help with mobility, accompany residents to appointments, and assist with medical tasks like catheter care and administering eye drops or suppositories. Light housekeeping and laundry are part of the role, along with promoting mental alertness through conversation and activities. HHAs are expected to observe and report changes in residents' conditions and offer emotional support to both residents and their families.
