Job Description
Overview Join our dedicated team as a Community Habilitation Specialist, where your passion for empowering individuals with developmental disabilities will make a meaningful difference in their lives. In this vital role, you will provide personalized support to help individuals develop essential life skills, foster independence, and participate actively in their community. Your energy and compassion will create a positive environment that encourages growth, learning, and social engagement. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with a diverse individual has autism and behavioral health needs, while promoting dignity and respect. Duties Implement individualized plan to support client in developing daily living skills, social skills, and community participation Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as grooming, hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility support Use effective behavior management techniques to promote positive behaviors and address challenging behaviors Collect and document data on client progress, activities, and behavioral responses accurately and consistently Support client with communication needs, including American Sign Language when applicable Drive client to appointments, community outings, or activities using your own vehicle while ensuring safety protocols are followed Provide caregiving support in various settings, including home visits and community-based environments Requirements Experience working with an individual with autism preferred Knowledge of special education principles and behavioral health practices Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members Ability to assist with ADLs and provide compassionate caregiving support Valid driver's license and clean driving record for transportation duties Familiarity with medication administration protocols is a plus Ability to handle data collection accurately and maintain detailed records Experience in home & community care settings or social work is advantageous Willingness to engage in ongoing training related to behavior management and care techniques Join us in creating a supportive environment where individuals can thrive!
