Job Description
Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with disabilities or special needs in a group home or home health setting. Your primary focus will be on enhancing the quality of life for residents by assisting them with daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their safety and well-being. This position requires a strong commitment to resident rights and adherence to HIPAA regulations. Responsibilities Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration. Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs and preferences. Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance residents' social interactions and overall well-being. Ensure the safety and security of residents by monitoring their activities and environment. Facilitate recreational activities that promote engagement and skill development. Maintain accurate documentation of care provided, including any changes in residents' conditions or behaviors. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other staff to ensure comprehensive care for each resident. Uphold resident rights by treating individuals with dignity and respect while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines. Perform heavy lifting as needed to assist residents with mobility or transfers. Requirements Previous experience in a group home, senior care, or home health setting is preferred. Knowledge of care plans and medication administration practices is essential. Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist residents with physical mobility as required. Strong understanding of resident rights and commitment to upholding them at all times. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of resident information. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with residents, families, and team members.
