Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional to provide essential care and assistance to individuals with diverse needs. In this vital role, you will support residents in their daily activities, promote independence, and ensure a safe, engaging environment. Your dedication will help enhance quality of life for those you serve, fostering a respectful and empowering atmosphere. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference while developing valuable skills in caregiving and community support. Responsibilities Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or transfer belts. Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting findings to healthcare professionals. Administer medications following prescribed care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Prepare nutritious meals and snacks tailored to individual dietary needs, ensuring proper food handling and cleanliness standards are maintained. Maintain a safe environment by performing regular cleaning duties, sanitizing common areas, and ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times. Support residents' emotional well-being through engaging activities, companionship, and respectful communication. Document care activities accurately in resident records and update care plans as needed to reflect changing needs or preferences. Skills Proven experience in group home settings, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments. Knowledge of patient care techniques including assisting with ADLs, medication administration, and patient monitoring. Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and HIPAA compliance are highly desirable. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts; physical stamina is essential. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia (including Alzheimer's and memory care), or hospice care is preferred. Strong observational skills for patient safety and patient observation; attentive to changes in condition or behavior.
