Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, aging, or health challenges. In this vital role, you will foster independence, ensure safety, and promote well-being through personalized assistance and engaging interactions. Duties Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, ensuring their comfort and dignity. Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing behavior, and reporting changes to management promptly. Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safety and compliance. Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary restrictions and assist clients during meal times to promote proper nutrition. Operate mobility equipment like Hoyer lifts and assist with transfers to maintain safety during movement. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols. Document care activities accurately in client records while respecting privacy standards such as HIPAA regulations. Skills Proven experience working in assisted living, home health, nursing homes, or group homes with individuals who have developmental disabilities. Knowledge of patient care techniques including CPR, First Aid, Alzheimer's care, memory care, hospice care, and working with autism spectrum disorders. Ability to monitor vital signs and recognize signs of medical emergencies or behavioral changes requiring intervention. Strong communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams, residents' families, and other caregivers. Physical stamina for heavy lifting and assisting residents with mobility needs safely. Familiarity with care plans, medication administration procedures, and HIPAA privacy standards. Compassionate attitude combined with patience for working with seniors or individuals experiencing cognitive decline or disabilities.
