Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with developmental, intellectual, or physical disabilities. In this vital role, you will assist clients with daily activities, promote independence, and foster a safe and nurturing environment. Your dedication will empower individuals to live fulfilling lives while ensuring their health, safety, and well-being are prioritized every day. Responsibilities Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care, grooming, dressing, and hygiene. Support clients in medication administration and monitor vital signs as needed, following care plans and HIPAA regulations. Provide patient observation and monitoring to ensure safety, especially for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism. Help with meal preparation, cooking, and maintaining a clean environment through light cleaning duties. Use proper patient transfer methods and manual handling techniques, including Hoyer lifts and patient transfer equipment. Document care activities accurately in compliance with HIPAA standards and update individual care plans regularly. Facilitate community integration by assisting with transportation and supporting clients during outings or appointments. Skills Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings is highly preferred. Knowledge of dementia care, memory care, hospice care, and Alzheimer's support strategies. Strong ability to observe patients' conditions through patient monitoring and provide timely interventions. Proficiency in assisting with ADLs such as bathing, toileting, feeding, and mobility support. Familiarity with medical procedures including vital signs measurement, medication administration, CPR, first aid, and use of Hoyer lifts. Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle manual tasks required for patient transfers or mobility assistance. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism or intellectual disabilities support is advantageous.
