Job Overview As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities or special needs. You will provide compassionate care and support to clients in various settings, including home care, assisted living, and memory care environments. Your responsibilities will include assisting with daily living activities, implementing care plans, and ensuring the safety and well-being of those you serve. Responsibilities Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation. Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs and preferences. Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance clients' quality of life. Monitor and document vital signs and changes in clients' conditions. Assist with mobility and transportation to appointments or community activities. Support clients in developing skills for independence and self-sufficiency. Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Engage in patient observation to identify any changes in behavior or health status. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care. Experience Previous experience in home care, assisted living, or memory care settings is preferred. Familiarity with CPR techniques and first aid is a plus. Knowledge of dementia care practices is beneficial for providing specialized support. Experience in monitoring vital signs and conducting patient observations is advantageous. Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and their families. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic environment. A compassionate attitude towards individuals with disabilities or special needs is essential.
