Position Overview As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) , you will provide compassionate, person-centered support and positive guidance to individuals with developmental disabilities. You will assist individuals in achieving their personal goals while following Thrive Services' policies, procedures, and established support plans. DSPs provide support with everyday living needs in the home and community while promoting independence, personal growth, self-advocacy, and meaningful relationships. You will advocate for the individuals you support and help them develop the skills and confidence necessary to achieve greater independence and participate actively within their communities. This position requires the ability to provide consistent one-on-one physical, social, and emotional support , including assistance with personal care and daily living activities. Compassion, patience, reliability, and a genuine desire to help others succeed are essential to this role. Daily Responsibilities Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Personal Health, Safety & Well-Being Assist with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, mobility, meal preparation, medication administration, light housekeeping, and other health-related tasks. Promote a safe, clean, and supportive home environment. Support individuals in maintaining their personal health and well-being. Transportation & Community Participation Provide transportation assistance for personal appointments, activities, and community outings. Encourage individuals to participate in community activities and develop meaningful relationships and connections. Communication Support Promote clear, respectful, and effective communication. Assist individuals in expressing their needs, preferences, and goals. Explain complex information in a manner that is easy to understand. Positive Behavioral & Life Skills Support Provide positive behavioral support and guidance. Coach and encourage the development of essential life skills. Foster positive relationships and assist with creative problem-solving. Encourage self-advocacy, independence, decision-making, and personal growth.
