Essential Responsibilities/Job Duties Ensuring residents safety and maintaining a safe environment Giving Meds Ensure consumers don't harm themselves or others. Engage with the consumers to enable them to lead a self-sustaining life independently. If you notice the consumer behavior is unusual help the consumer get on track. For instance, if the consumer felt depressed, talk to the consumer and get the consumer to communicate their feelings and why they felt the way they do. listen to the consumer and get them to communicate Play a game or talk about something that would enable them to handle their feelings in a positive fashion. Performing personal care tasks, including assistance with basic personal hygiene and grooming, feeding, and ambulation, medical monitoring, and health care related tasks. Fostering positive relationships between individuals served and their housemates Assisting with toileting, including bedpans, urinals, and commode chairs Reminding/assisting client with self-administration of medications (with proper training) Encouraging self-help activities Reporting changes in residents condition or family situation to the office Documenting services provided Performing home management functions such as light housekeeping, laundry, bed making, and cleaning Planning meals, shopping for groceries, preparing and serving food/meals, feeding and clean-up Accompanying residents to scheduled appointments Transporting residents or running errands for residents Coming up with activities that will keep residents engaged
